RICHMOND -- Two people were rescued from a single-alarm fire in Richmond Tuesday morning, a fire official said.

The blaze broke out in the kitchen of a home on the 300 block of 20th Street at 7:15 a.m., said Richmond fire Battalion Chief Merlin Turner. The small fire was contained within 15 minutes, he said.

One victim suffering from smoke inhalation was taken to the hospital. The second victim was treated at the scene.

The fire caused an estimated $10,000 in damage.
