HERCULES -- A Halloween night dispute between a landlord and his tenant ended up with the landlord's son behind bars, police said.
Police said 34-year-old Hercules resident Derrick Carlo was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon after he intervened in a dispute between his father and one of his tenants around 7:40 p.m. at a residence in the 1500 block of Partridge Drive on Thursday.
When officers arrived, the tenant told them he was at the residence to get his belongings and was attacked by the landlord, police said. Carlo eventually intervened, police said, and allegedly pulled out a knife, and waved it while threatening the tenant.
Police said Carlo then got into a car and, while trying to leave, hit the tenant with his car. He drove onto Sycamore Avenue and was at Willow Avenue when he was pulled over, police said. He was arrested without incident and taken to the County Jail in Martinez, where he posted bail.
