PINOLE -- The city will hold Dumpster Day on Saturday for disposal of a wide variety of household items and appliances at one central location -- but only for residents, who will have to show a current photo ID or utility bill.
Acceptable items include glass, clothing, metal chairs, tables, couches, small appliances, broken toys, box springs, mattresses, rugs and padding, wood, dishwashers, laundry washers and dryers, refrigerators, ovens and stoves, household batteries, fluorescent bulbs and tubes, mercury thermometers and thermostats, computers, monitors, laptops and peripherals, microwave ovens, televisions, and other electronics.
No green waste, tires or concrete will be accepted, nor any household hazardous waste such as paint, oil, bug spray, oven cleaner, propane tanks, vehicle batteries, prescription medicine, and sharp objects such as needles, syringes and lancets.
Standard-size pickup trucks are welcome, but not trucks or trailers.
For more information, contact the Pinole Public Works Department at 510-724-9010.
Dumpsters will be available at the southwest corner of Henry Avenue and Pinole Valley Road starting at 8 a.m.; the event is supposed to go until noon but could end earlier if the bins fill up.
