RICHMOND -- A man killed while trying to cross Interstate 580 in Richmond was identified Tuesday as a 63-year-old San Francisco resident, authorities said.
Frank Quirk Jr. was killed as he crossed the westbound lanes toward the center median Nov. 2 about 9:35 p.m., authorities said. Quirk was hit by dozens of cars as fire crews attempted to block lanes from traffic, according to Richmond fire officials.
Medics administered first aid to revive him, but those efforts were unsuccessful. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities said Quirk has no known next of kin.
