RICHMOND -- Volunteers and celebrants are welcome to join a tree planting party from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday in the North and East neighborhood.
The event hosted by the Richmond Trees group will start with registration and refreshments at Humphrey Avenue and 34th Street at 8:30 a.m., followed by a planting demonstration. Volunteers will then set out to tree-planting locations at 9 a.m. Bring gloves and round point shovels if you have them.
At 11:45 a.m. everyone will regroup for live music by Steve Seskin and remarks by county Supervisor John Gioia, Police Chief Chris Magnus and Mayor Gayle McLaughlin.
All ages are invited and there will be arts and crafts activities for children.
