Creeks, shorelines, parks and other places in West Contra Costa will get special care at Earth Day events on Saturday and April 26 and, as always, the community is encouraged to take part.
Here is a list of events:
The city and The Watershed Project will provide tools and gloves, but if you have your own gloves and bucket, be sure to bring them, along with a reusable water bottle to stay hydrated.
The cleanup will include free refreshments and a chance to make art from collected objects.
Sponsors include Citizens for East Shore Parks and the East Bay Regional Park District.

The appreciation lunch will include informational tables, an art activity, complimentary seedling giveaway by the El Cerrito Community Garden Network and live music by Hot Rod Jukebox.
Volunteers can register at either site at 9 a.m. They should wear sturdy shoes, a hat and sunscreen, and are encouraged to bring work gloves and a reusable water bottle. Sponsors will provide volunteers with a free light breakfast and lunch.
In addition, they say, "If you want to clean up your own neighborhood, register at the library and we can provide trash bags."
