RICHMOND -- The city and the Oakland A's have partnered with charitable groups and PG&E to renovate the baseball field at Martin Luther King Jr. Park on Harbour Way South near Cutting Boulevard and will dedicate the facility from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday.
Gold Glove right fielder Josh Reddick will conduct a clinic with Richmond Little League players at the event.
The project was initiated by a grant request for the renovation submitted last September by the Richmond Community Foundation, working with the city, to the Energize Your Field program, sponsored by the Oakland Athletics and Pacific Gas & Electric.
The request was approved in April and work began May 7.
The ball field renovation was done by the Good Tidings Foundation, which partners with the Bay Area's professional sports teams to leverage resources for projects benefiting young people.
