RICHMOND -- A Richmond man pointed his gun at a woman and pulled the trigger twice, but the loaded weapon did not fire, police said Thursday.

Odafe Omadhebo has been arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon for the incident on Wednesday inside his home on the 3700 block of Esmond Avenue, Richmond spokeswoman Sgt. Nicole Abetkov said.

Police have not released his motive, but said Omadhebo tried to fire his gun twice at a woman at around 1:15 p.m. The woman then called police. Omadhebo was later arrested when he returned home, and officers found a loaded handgun in his car, Abetkov said.

The man may be friends with the woman's daughter, authorities said.
